Hey Y’all!!

So, this is my first blog post ever! When I started thinking about what I would write, so many ideas started pouring in. But, let’s start with some basics. First, let me just share why I’m here and how y’all can get involved. One of the reasons I wanted to start this blog was to share my passion for all things fitness and health, relate to ya’ll on a personal level, and hopefully inspire a few of you to begin or continue your fitness journey for yourself.

Fitness has always been important to me. I played sports in middle school and high school and continued to go to the gym or run in college (running was the only thing I had time for in nursing school, if I even found time for that between all the studying and clinicals; if you know, you know). But let me tell you, I used fitness as a way to fit in or be a part of a group back then. I didn’t really do all of that for myself; a time when you are shaped by the pictures that society displays. I thought by working out I would look like a Victoria’s Secret Angel. That was always the goal. And, honey, let me tell you, I do not have the shape to ever ever ever look like an angel (haha). And that’s okay. But I will tell you that I would hang model pictures on the fridge or around the house for “motivation.” Mind you, I never achieved that goal. But this is how young women think. And I want to help change the stigma that the only way to be beautiful is to look like someone else. Or that your motivation is someone else’s body. The day I changed my mindset is the day I fell in love with myself and truly fell in love with fitness. Beauty comes from within. I know it sounds cheesy. But it is so so so true. And everyone is beautiful no matter their shape or size. I truly believe that.

Fitness is not something I do because it makes me look good (although that is a nice perk). If I’m being honest, fitness is what makes me feel alive. It makes a bad day a good day. It empowers me to lift heavier and go the extra mile. It makes me motivated to push myself and others. It pushes me to do my best. Are there days I don’t want to work out? Sure. Everyone has those days, but the days that you make it to the gym and you make it a habit are the days that you make your health a habit.

So, how can you get involved? Well, for starters you can subscribe to my blog below. Right now, I will be using this platform as a form of encouragement and empowerment for women new to the gym. I will incorporate diet (recipes), exercise (videos/lists), and words of encouragement/affirmation. I hope to inspire some of you to find your love for fitness on your own fitness journey. I encourage whoever is reading this to make time for your health and go exercise three times this week and let me know how it makes you feel! Set aside plans for the day to incorporate exercise into your busy day (trust me, that’s the only way it will get done in this hectic life). If you have any questions or want to hear more you can leave a comment or contact me via the contact me link above. Looking forward to starting this blogging journey with y’all!!!
